last summer there were pieces parts of these windmills being trucked right through our little farm community to be put up for wind farms.....hopefully more and more people are getting on the bandwagon. There is also one out of Mountain home, Id.

I think California is headed in the right direction for going green...In Faial, Portugal they have been using windmills for years..the old wooden type and the new modern ones. If they can get Cape Wind off the ground--in Nantucket Sound -they will have windmills there.. but the rich and famous with the big expensive homes are protesting--even though they say other wise--talk out both sides of there mouths..

Well done, John! And I entered three pics in the challenge; one at your suggestion. I agree; finding a way of ceasing, or cutting-down on our monstrous use of fossil fuels, and car useage, will help the planet. I liked the previous pic here of the huge traffic jam. The petrol (Gasoline) driven car is a major contributor to global warming. Anyone with more than one of these filth exuding machines should be severely penalised, or taxed to death for the damage caused to the planet and to children, where more and more are suffering the effects of Asthma caused by pollution. No doubt we need MANY solutions to the complex problems facing energy self-reliance in the coming decades. This should be a part of that solution. Fred

Johnny: The URL page below is interesting Re: windfarms, There is also an "Earth Tilt/Wobble" page in the site ... In a "nutshell", this page tells how we are in for a cooling period leading to another "Ice Age". ... but not to worry ... the "8th Ice Age" ... if it occurs ... will not be for 10,000 years. I agree it is a partial solution - but not ideal.

Actually I live out in this area and they did a study on the birds here and the San Gorgonio pass has very little bird activity so the bird kills here is very low .

Wind power was used on a farm I used live on. The windmill pumped water to the house. I think it is fairly common on farms to harness this energy. Solar power too is a great idea.

It's A solution, but not a cure-all. Wind farms kill hundreds of birds and bats. All those blades are like a minefield to flying animals.
