Album Info:

(DSC03669) THE GODDESS MEBUYAN, 1995; Wood (cypress) and Acrylic; from the collection of Fr. Robert Reyes [Mebuyan, Bagobo tribe's goddess of fertility, is often depicted with multiple breasts that suggest life-giving. Her munificent bosom overflowing with milk signifies bounty. Pregnant womenflesh out the abundant being, the birth of humanity, and emergence. The use of wood in most of Diaz's sculptures produces dark skin tone for his goddesses; it also represents the fecund soil, ready for sowing, and eventually harvesting the fruits of the earth. ~~Taken from the exhibit leaflet]
