Lanllier and Pini, "Five Centuries of Jeweldy - 16th to 20 th Century" p. 182 (1983) quote a source of the day: "La Sylphide, a contemporary magazine, describes the imperial wedding jewels in its issue of February 10, 1853: 'Lemonnier produced several parures which were positive gems of imagination and genius. One was of native pearls and rubies, and consisted of a small closed crown for the back of the head, a bracelet, and a necklace of plaques. The other was of fabulously rare black pearls, and included a bracelet with three large black pearls. In addition to these outstanding parures there were elegantly designed bracelets of stones of so many hues that the eye could not follow them all. There were Lois Quinze parures in many-colored stones. A parure of diamonds and another of emeralds and pearls...'
