Josephine and Hortense Beauhernais probably would have been delighted to wear a gown such as this. I'm not sure what to call the diagonal panels of the bodice framing the decolletage, but it was popular into the 1840s, as will be seen. I'm going to call it a "ribbed bodice." The skirt has yet to flare out and the waist is just above the natural location. The triangular point at the base of the bodice had yet to show up either.
