the publicity dept wrote on this authentication...miss davis gown is white crepe with red poinsettias and green leaves in bugle beads...and that was it. no movie given, just sold the original pr photo. It i gorgeous, look it had no back or sides..so no bra, unless its special strapless? long train too. But it is 1939...maybe it was never IN A MOVIE? anyone know let us know....thanks.

This might only be a publicity shot...stars frequently posed for fashion shots in those days. Bette Davis posed a problem for the studio designer, Orry Kelly, because she had a very large, low bust and refused to wear a bra, unless it was a period picture. She had the kind of figure a 50s starlet would kill for, but it was unfashionable during her prime. Note the positioning of her arm!
