Album Info:

After passing through the egg, an air-rifle pellet hits a metal panel set against a micro-switch wired to a flash lead. The 'open flash method' was used to record the impact on a film camera. Its shutter was left open in a darkroom then closed before room lights were turned on. The flash was set to manual/full-power and the camera's f stop (f11) determined by the usual flash to subject distance (75cm) equations for the 400 ISO film uprated to 1000. The camera's effective shutter speed can thus become as fast as 1/20,0000th second - a flash's minimum duration. This full burst though looks closer to the maximum of around 1/1000th. - Love the comment below about how we 'crake' our eggs in Oz :) Very clever! You should see how we make toast!

    • Tremendous - a real accomplishment! I'd love to learn how to do this someday (as a photographer)! Keep challenging us with your creations!

    • You sure do crake your eggs funny, down-under. Us westerners just hit it on side of a pan.
