Album Info:
Pictured here is a 1957 wrecked Pontiac Station wagon that was involved in an accident on Summer Ave in July 1963. It was raining that day and Bobby's Dad, James W. Sowell Sr, had just gotten released from the hospital recuperating from a neck injury from his work, had came to pick up his wife Agatha and 16 yr old Son Bobby from work at the Market Basket. While on the way home a car driven by an inexperienced 16 year old boy driver skidded on the wet pavement and came across the center line striking the Pontiac. An ambulance came and transported all of them to the hospital. Injuries from that accident included Bobby's Mom with temporary paralysis on one side, Bobby having to wear a back brace for two years and his Dad's neck. The ironic thing about his Dad's neck is when his head stuck the windshield it popped his neck in such a way where it actually cured his neck problem. He never had problems with it ever since. The car had no seatbelts, so the weight of the car most likely saved our lives.
