I have 3 copies of this work.White note appears in all.Also have photo of the entire room -looks blurry, but I think white note is there too.As for John, I agree not only Leonardo, but all Rennaissance painters pictured him as a rather efeminite youth.

It is John "The Beloved" not John The Baptist depicted in the scene. John refers to himself as "the disciple Jesus loved."

The white note is not in the original painting. And it is not unusual for Leonardo to paint a very female John The Baptist.

magnificent picture.no doubt.if we suppose next to Christ is Maria Magdalena and their arms are forming a V sign. in the middle of that V sign is a pilar behind them and on top of that is a white note. Does anyone know what is written on a white note?
