The one that got away - '53 Les Paul (pre-tune-o-matic bridge). According to all published sources, this model was only made as a Goldtop, so this might be a factory custom job. Previously owned by Guitar Red (would love to find a photo of him playing it). Got it for eight grade graduation in '61. $100, bought on lay-away. My Dad and I would take the trip to Zodan's in Roseland to put another $10 down every week, and I would get to play it for a few minutes. Finally, in June of '61, it was
