Album Description:
Panagbenga ("a season of blooming") is known as the Baguio Flower Festival, a homage to the beautiful flowers the city is famous for. Since Feb. 1995, it has been held annually to help Baguio forget the 1990 earthquake which devastated the city.

Dearest Mary Ann, Sometimes the words cannot describe the feelings. Sometimes the heart does not have words to be able to express. But what if is certain it is that there are scenes that never forget, that they keep in the unerasable memory of which nobody will be able to clear to you. I admire the cultural wealth of the peoples and its enormous capacity to create the beauty that does not distinguish like superior beings. Thank you dear friend for this fantastic album, plenty of beauty. A hug. Jesus

Oh Mary Ann what a gorgeous album and yes truly as beautiful as our Rose Parade. I enjoyed both this and the other parade album - such a colorful event. Sunflowers must be quite popular. Thanks so much for getting a front row seat for us!! Hugs, Carol

Did you know that I was not able to watch this float parade because of some conflict in my schedules? But I'm happy you have this album here, and so I don't feel like I've missed this parade anymore. Great captures! Thanks for sharing. -Charlene

Mary Ann, The Rose Parade has nothing on this parade. As usual, your album is filled with excellent photos and informative labels. Your photos bring back fond memories of why I enjoyed living in the Philippines. Keep up the great work. Paul

Thank you for posting this album for me to see. Not quite the same as being there, but it is probably the closest I will ever get to it. I am enjoying all of your pictures of the local culture. Linda In NC, USA

The Panagbenga started as a flower-inspired, flower-themed festival 13 years ago to boost the tourism industry every February, considered then to be a lull month between the Christmas celebration and the busy, crowded Holy Week and summer vacation rush. The celebrations are held for over a month and peak periods are the weekends. As in previous years, this year's Panagbenga 2008 showcased two parades: first (on Feb 23, Sat.) was the grand parade of street dancing where schools competed on best marching band and street dancing performance. Second (on Feb 24, Sun.) was the parade of floats where different groups & commercial establishments showed off their floats decorated with thousands of flowers.

Mary Ann, This is a wonderful album! What a gift you have for an artist's eye! A fraternity brod invited me to the 100 islands in Alaminos the same weekend the Penagbenga flower festival was happening in Baguio. He is the mayor there and I got to witness the sunrise and sunset of the 100 islands. Your album reminds me of the Rose Parade in Pasadena. Thanks for sharing. Regards, Ding
